Having suffered from low-level carbon monoxide poisoning in her home over a period of 10 years after failing to get her gas appliances properly serviced, Ms Bridgewater suffered from a heart attack and terrible ill health, and now has to use a wheelchair for the rest of her life.
Although Ms Bridgewater always arranged to have a regular boiler service, she failed to have her gas cooker and fire checked as well. The problems could have been prevented if she had got all of her gas appliances serviced properly.

The Gas Safe Register is highlighting the case to remind people to get their boilers and other gas appliances serviced regularly, especially now that winter is approaching and people are beginning to use their heating more.
